has been heard on the most important stages as well as in the smallest churches and clubs of the world: Berlin’s Waldbuehne, the St. Marien Church in Nuebel (Northern Germany) or New York’s Carnegie Hall. The latter is where a Live-CD of the Palast Orchester with Max Raabe was recorded in 2007; a production for which Roy was significantly responsible as the orchestra’s musical director. His membership in this ensemble has taken him to such countries as France, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Greece, Norway, Japan, the USA, Russia or China. He’s even played his saxophone on the Great Wall of China and treated the audience to the great standard “As Time Goes By” at the opening concert of Vienna’s Festwochen. His journeys with other ensembles have taken him to Israel, Slovenia, Spain and Italy. He’s also performed as soloist and band-leader in concerts with such well-known musicians as saxophone legend Herb Geller. As a saxophonist he has been heard at the Bundespreseball or Viennese Opera Ball and seen on numerous television shows. With Max Raabe he played at the wedding of Marilyn Manson, recently flew to New York for a photo shoot with star photographer Annie Leibovitz for an edition of the American Vogue and has been on the big screen in films by Werner Herzog or Michael Ballhaus. One of his particular passions is composing and arranging for various formations such as saxophone quartet, jazz combo or big band. The Roy Frank Orchestra of course also performs original works by their band leader.
